Blogging: what’s the point?

Since I’ve resurrected this blog recently I’ve been thinking carefully about what it should include. While pondering on the point of a blog at all I remembered that just to be able to publish writing and images on pretty much any subject  to an online audience of potentially thousands of people from all over the world (well, perhaps not thousands in the case of this lil’ blog, but you catch my drift. . . ) in a visually appealing way is a Great Thing.

But this video I found on OneJerusalem.com really hammered the point home. A third of Iran’s population is under 25 and there are 100,000 active blogs in Iran, making it the third largest nation of bloggers, according to this short film. I can’t find sources for those figures at the moment, but it’s no wonder Reporters sans Frontieres described the country as “the biggest prison for journalists in the Middle East.”
